While everyone in the world is talking about high-heeled mules and flat athletic sandals for Spring (references here and here), I am thinking of combining the two styles. Taking the best of both shoes: the elongating pointy toe from the high-heeled mule + the comfort of the athletic sandal = flat mule. More practical than a stiletto heel and more chic than a shower shoe, the pointy toe, flat mule is my shoe of choice for Spring 2014.

I love the laid back elegance of this simple shoe silhouette and how it creates a sense of ease when worn with a long dress, but looks equally sharp with skinny trousers. I haven’t found the exact style I want to invest in for this season’s 5 Piece French Wardrobe, but the style Vanessa Traina is wearing looks ideal. In the meantime, I found this Ann Demeulemeester version, although I would prefer a slingback to the ankle strap. I’m open to suggestions!
