I thought about including this in yesterday’s post, The White Edit, but after trying them on, I decided they deserved a post all their own. Fitting perfectly into my “Pare down, scale up,” mantra, the small but well-edited collection of white shirts from Parisian designer, Atlantique Ascoli are the only shirts you need in your wardrobe.
Inspired by Victorian blouses but with the necessary modern updates. I especially love Ascoli’s choice of material: a structured white cotton/linen fabric that reminds me of the cloth old sails were made from. Meant to fit like your favorite sweater- roomy, comfortable and moldable to your body, they are all that and more. My favorite silhouette is the Ballet Russe blouse, (left), but the Sweatshirt blouse and Boxy Tunic are close seconds. If I can find the Ballet Russe blouse (all other styles available at Barney’s) I won’t hesitate to buy it as one of my 5 Piece French Wardrobe pieces this season.
