07 May Must Have: A Proper Trench Coat
Since our April was so rainy, I realized the need for a proper trench coat. This is a must-have topper when living in a city like New York. An easy throw-over-anything coat that is light-weight, protects from the elements and has the versatility to change your look. When worn open, the trench coat can add a certain ease to an otherwise uptight ensemble. When worn cinched at the waist, it adds a sense of refinement and mystery to your look.
After hours of research, I narrowed down my favorites to the four you see above. While none of them are exactly what I want, they all have elements that I’d like to meld into one.
Charles Anastase Trench // I like the shorter length and simple notched collar, but I prefer a roomier and full-length sleeve.
Samuji Trench // I love the dropped shoulders on this style, it makes it easy to throw over any sweater or shirt, no matter how voluminous the sleeve. I also love that this style buttons all the way up without the double breasted front closure.
The Row Trench // My favorite things about this style are the color and the waxed cotton fabric. With a heavy removable lining inside, this style will get more play than just a spring time trench, which almost justifies the hefty price tag. I also love the simple snap closure belt, although I am not sure how adjustable it is…
