Minimal Margiela sounds like an oxymoron because the clothes from Maison Martin Margiela are never simple, always complex in their details, but I promise you, for Resort 2015 the house chose to pare things down slightly with a neutral color palette and minimal embellishment. Tailored separates, killer footwear and smart styling made the Margiela Resort 2015 collection one of my favorite in-between seasons to date.

I love the advanced 90’s vibe that comes through in the form of stirrup pants and strapless tops. The tortoise ankle boots are on the top of my shopping list come November, and I wouldn’t mind the wood heeled pumps in the perfect shade of nude either. The relaxed trousers feel effortless, while the side stripes sharpen the silhouette to bring them to another level.

The director, Thomas Piper says “One of my favorite scenes in the film is when Piet talks about how gardens mimic our own life cycle of birth, life and death, but they do it every year, year after year,’ says Piper, ‘which is perhaps less about perseverance and endurance, and more about acceptance, or appreciation—appreciating the present moment, whatever stage that happens to be. Piet’s celebration of late fall and winter in a garden is ultimately a very optimistic act.”

If that isn’t inspiration enough to make you watch the film, then I don’t know what is.
