One of Alessandro Michele’s first duties as the new creative director at Gucci was to direct the Pre-Fall 2015 ad campaign. A rare occasion since he didn’t design the collection himself. It was the last collection designed by previous creative director, Frida Giannini. Michele successfully brought his new quirky, more realistic aesthetic to the ad campaign. Trading overtly sexy ads for understated luxury was a smart move. His refreshing direction for the new Gucci brand has already inspired the fashion industry, but will it translate to higher sales? Only time will tell.
