Best of Basics: Filt Net bag

If you live in New York, you know what it means to be a bag lady. We are always carrying totes upon shopping bags to haul around our everyday belongings and treasures we pick up throughout the day… free newspapers, groceries at the farmer’s market… you get the idea. I’m always looking for reusable bags that I can store inside my smaller handbags. I recently picked up this Filt net bag from The Line and it hasn’t left my side since. When it’s not being used to store my beach necessities or my CSA veggie haul, it lives inside my handbag, just in case. In France, net bags are called ‘filet’ and were originally used by fishermen on the coast of Normandy since the 17th century. The bags are made from 100% cotton which makes it comfortable to hang on your shoulder all day. The net is durable and expandable to accommodate all of your necessities. Shop the Japanese version here, or more French options from MoMA and Amazon.
